The first World’s Fair of production and ecotourism

The fair will take place October 18 to 26, 2014, in Santiago de los Caballeros, the second city of the Dominican Republic. It will be a real opportunity for manufacturing countries to come into direct contact with the Caribbean region, in particular with the Dominican Republic and Haiti; thus opening up new avenues of trade relations and cultural and technological exchanges between the peoples of the world, and especially business, vital to sustain and build green cities and countries with sustainable development.

Introduction

The Science and Arts Foundation and the municipality of Santiago de los Caballeros are the organizers and I.D.E.A. – International Development And Environment Agency are promoting this fair in order to ensure the participation of companies and institutions in this scientific event, cultural and commercial.

After celebrating 17 fairs ecotourism national and binational with Haiti, in rural and suburban areas, the Foundation for Science and Art is organizing, on its 25th anniversary, its first global ecotourism fair.

Description

The venue of the fair will be the Central Park of Santiago de los Caballeros, a place run by one of the largest business associations in the city, ADEPI, which also participate in the fair. The city of Santiago de los Caballeros, the second city of the Caribbean, has a population of 1 million inhabitants and is a centre of industrial production, historical and cultural heritage of great importance in the country. The Park is surrounded by places of culture and mountainous ecosystems that represent a significant potential for development of self-sustainable tourism, durable and promoter of eco-environmental models.

Objective

The purpose of the ecotourism fair is in general to encourage an exchange of experiences on the issues of preservation of biological and cultural differences in the world in favour of human, manufacturing, and commercial development, solidarity among peoples and peace, as well as projected into the preservation of the environment. In more specific terms, this is about placing Santiago de los Caballeros on the world map of durable tourism, productive investment and the use of manufacturing, technologies, services and products that can guarantee the world neat and green cities.

The first World's Fair of manufacturing and ecotourism will be both educational and cultural, and commercial. It includes the following activities:

1. Exhibition of techniques and projects,

2. Exhibition of goods and services

3. Programming conferences and scientific workshops

4. Artistic and cultural programs

5. Trading Tables

6. Excursions and sport

The opportunities

The exhibition is realized in cooperation with the State and private entities in the Dominican Republic and the world. It receives financial and logistical support of public bodies Dominicans, other States and international organizations for cooperation, as well as by various institutions and private sector companies.

The fair offers the following opportunities:

The opportunity to be present in setting up a pavilion in the area in which there are companies from different countries besides the Italian ones, members of various associations interested to sell and finance products, technologies and projects for the development of environmental technologies, and more.
The possibility to participate in the scientific program in which present one’s own experiences to the business associations working in environmental technologies.
The possibility to promote one’s own offerings at business meetings in which one can establish direct contacts with companies and potential buyers both domestic and from other countries, as well as with State and municipal bodies in general. These meetings will be conducted by the Chamber of Commerce and Manufacturing of Santiago de los Caballeros, which this year is celebrating its centenary, and the Centre of Export and Investment in the Dominican Republic (CEI-RD) and the Caribbean export.
The possibility of undertaking a campaign to promote one’s offering within the fair to the members of the various business associations, private and public, from 70 countries, to make direct contacts with municipalities, State agencies and private businesses of the Dominican Republic.
The possibility to engage in relationships for export and / or import of products and / or services in general with particular emphasis on the following areas / sectors: tourism, real estate, construction, wine and food, manufacturing, furniture for indoor and outdoor, advertising, communication, logistics in general, etc.
